“How does Shakespeare explore his ideas of Fate in his play Romeo and Juliet?”

Shakespeare uses a lot of language throughout Romeo and Juliet and he uses a lot of metaphors and dramatic irony throughout the play and Shakespeare uses lots of technique in Romeo and Juliet and he makes the play so people in the audience think what is going to happen throughout the whole play in Romeo and Juliet because that is what he does he makes the audience think that the letter to Romeo is going to make it to Romeo and Romeo and Juliet can live happily ever after but that is not what happens what happens is Romeo does not get the letter so he buys a poison that kills him and then he sees Juliet one last time then he drinks it Juliet wakes up and Romeo dies so Juliet picks up Romeo’s gun and Juliet shoots herself in the head and dies so it is not how it was supposed to happen but in some ways it was so it is fate and it is used throughout the whole play because Shakespeare likes using fate throughout the whole play in Romeo and Juliet the story of Romeo and Juliet is about when Romeo is so sad that Rosaline doesn’t love him so he goes to the Capulets party and meets Juliet there then he falls in love with Juliet then Romeo and Juliet get married then they sleep together then Romeo kills Tybalt so Romeo gets banished so then Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a poison that makes you sleep for forty-two hours which Juliet gets put in the tomb so Friar Lawrence sent Romeo a letter to say that she was still alive and sleeping he also said in the letter that Romeo and Friar Lawrence to wait until Juliet wakes up so they can be together but Romeo did not receive the letter so Romeo thought Juliet was dead so he bought a poison and he went to see her one more time then he drinks the poison and then Juliet wakes up so she picks up Romeo’s gun and she shoots herself in the head then Friar Lawrence turns up and they are both dead.

Shakespeare uses a metaphor to convey his idea that Romeo is controlled by a higher power, like god. He does his having Romeo referring to himself as a vessel which is being captained by God. “He that hath steerage of my course, direct my sail.” this proves that Shakespeare is referring to God because the captain is the helmsman of a ship who directs its course. Romeo has decided, in spite of his misgivings, to take the risk of following his fate.

In Romeo and Juliet it said that Romeo and Juliet were going to die so this tells the audience what’s going to happen and it is fate because it was meant to happen there are lines in the prologue of Romeo and Juliet like “A pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life”, “due with their death bury their parents’ strife.”, ” Which, but their children’s end, nought could remove,” this proves that they were meant to die because their families hate each other so they took their lives because of it so Friar Lawrence sent Romeo a letter but Romeo did not receive it so Romeo bought a potion then he went to the Capulet’s tomb but he was seen by prince so Romeo locked the door then walked up to Juliet and kissed her one last time then Romeo drank the poison and then Juliet woke up and then Romeo regretted drinking the poison so Juliet took Romeo’s gun and shot herself then the families got together but no one could bring them back alive so the families had to get together and there family feud had to end because their deaths were really terrible for their parents and themselves because Juliet drank a poison which makes you sleep for forty two hours so she did not want to marry Paris because she did not love him because she was already married to Romeo but her parents did not know that so then she was put in the tomb and then Romeo fought Paris so he could not see Juliet then Romeo killed Paris so then Romeo bought a potion then drank it when he saw Juliet because he did not know Juliet was still alive then Juliet killed herself in a different position than she was before so this is evidence that the prologue says that Romeo and Juliet were gonna die so this is Fate and it was throughout the entire movie like when Lady Capulet was referring to Paris as a book.

Iambic Pentameter is like a heartbeat and it is throughout the whole play even if you don’t notice it there are some lines in the prologue that have an iambic pentameter but there are other rhythms in Romeo and Juliet other than iambic pentameter this sits under every scene in Romeo and Juliet by the rhythms but people don’t notice the rhythms in Romeo and Juliet because its silent and you can’t hear it but you can imagine it as they speak the rhythms are in every line of Romeo and Juliet you can easily notice the rhythms in the prologue because they speak quite fast and you can kind of notice the rhythms because it is the easiest part in the play you can notice rhythms but you can not really notice rhythms in the other scenes of Romeo and Juliet because they speak fast but you can’t notice it which the prologue you can notice it because it is easier to notice the rhythms that is in the prologue and it is hard to notice the rhythms in every line and scene because it does not sound like the rhythms are there but they are that is why is hard to notice but it is interesting how there are rhythms in Romeo and Juliet but you can’t really hear them throughout the play but you can hear them in the prologue because it is easier to hear them in the prologue because you can easily hear the rhythms in Romeo and Juliet because it is easier to learn than the rhythms in the prologue than in the scenes.

Dramatic Irony is when the audience knows what the characters don’t know like when Friar Lawrence sent the letter to Romeo to say that Juliet is still alive but Romeo does not know because he never received the letter so Romeo does not know that Juliet is still alive and sleeping neither does Juliet’s family and her nurse they all don’t know that Juliet is still alive except Friar Lawrence because Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the poison that makes you sleep for forty-two hours but Romeo and Juliet’s family think she died but she did not die she drank the poison but she did not die she faked it so she could be with Romeo because she loves romeo not Paris because she is forced to be with Paris and she is not with Romeo because their families hate each other but they like Paris instead.

Writing: 4P Well organised essay structure, with appropriate supporting detail and some linking of evidence and intention. Extensive meandering within paragraphs where information is not organised into a coherent argument. Some circular arguments and unnecessary repetition.
